Deborah Watkins

Mrs. Watkins is a graduate of North Carolina Central University where she received her undergraduate and graduate education in accounting and business administration. Ms. Watkins worked in corporate America for 30 years before deciding to pursue her lifelong passion to teach. She has taught career planning courses at her alma mater, North Carolina Central University, and recently started her own tutoring company.  She also self- published a set of 3 children’s books for beginning readers  Read? Yes, I Can! The books are designed to improve the self esteem and confidence of young readers.  She also served on the board for the Augustine Literacy project for 6 years. 

Carolyn Ramsey-Williams

Mrs. Williams is a graduate of North Carolina Central  University where she  received her undergraduate and graduate degrees.  Before retiring she taught for forty years.  Her experience has been with grades 4 – 12, with a concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies. Having a passion for children she has always wanted to teach and continues to work with children at her church.  Since retirement, she has authored two children’s books and plans to complete more. She is a wife and proud grandmother of four grandchildren. To be a part of Gift of Knowledge Academy allows her to continue her educational philosophy which aims to create a "foundation that will ensure success later in life."

Quenton Watkins

Quenton is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He has worked for several different private engineering firms building off of his experience interning with the NCDOT. He currently lives in Orlando, FL where he is a Traffic Engineer. Quenton is also an author; he self-published his first book 'From Hesitant to Handshake: An introverts guide to networking' in 2016. He has always been passionate about education and working with youth. He has worked with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program as well as served as a mentor at a youth homeless shelter in Orlando. He has also taken trips to volunteer in South America in Colombia and Ecuador where he taught English in local orphanages and schools. He is excited to be on the board of Gift of Knowledge Academy where he can continue staying involved with his passions of education and youth.

Christopher E. Barbee

Board Member
Mr. Barbee is an ordained Minister and graduate from Apex School of Theology with a Masters in Christian Education. His undergraduate degree is from Shaw University in Religion & Philosophy. He is currently employed as a Guidance Counselor at Military Entrance Processing Station Raleigh NC. He is an advocate for early childhood education and is committed to the mission and vision of Gift of Knowledge Academy
